Health & Safety Manager (Manufacturing) Full-Time

Job Duties 

  • Promote good health, safety and environmental practices throughout all company activities.
  • Review the company Health, Safety and Environment Policies on an annual basis in keeping with best practice and make recommendations on their implementation and application.
  • Ensure that Local Policy Statements/Fire Plans and Fire Risk Assessments are produced and quality assured.
  • Devise, develop and monitor effective Risk Assessment, management strategies and make recommendations on the, implementation of these strategies.
  • Provide independent professional advice and technical information where appropriate, keeping staff and Managers abreast of changes in HS&E Legislation and Codes of Practice.
  • Provide, or where necessary source, training for staff in relation to Health and Safe policies, practice and procedures.
  • Carry out or arrange workplace safety audits and ensure that any remedial recommendations are implemented.
  • Maintain accident statistics, analyze trends and propose and take remedial action where necessary.
  • Investigate all accidents and near-misses be investigated, prepare report of findings, including recommendations to prevent recurrence and implement approved course of action.
  • Respond to reports of unsafe conditions (e.g. electrical, mechanical, structural, chemical hazards, etc.) by requesting repairs or maintenance.
  • Assist and support Departments in the preparation of risk assessments. Monitor the availability and appropriateness of risk assessments and safe working practices.
  • Maintain a register of First Aiders, Emergency response, Fire response team and ensure all teams are appropriately trained.
  • Develop procedures to ensure that contractors, suppliers and other irregular visitors to the company comply with relevant safety policies.
  • Meet and co-operate with visiting health, safety and environmental officers as required.
  • Manage and maintain the company HSE database, ensuring relevant statements are available on all hazardous materials and that effective Risk Assessments are in place to manage the handling and use of such substances, all assessments to be reviewed annually.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous environmental improvement and implement programs to deliver these
  • Promote and coordinate the integration of environmental management and sustainability issues into policies, rules, products, services and operations
  • Represent the company with local and national health, safety and environment bodies.
  • Manage and control the company's recycling and waste management procedures
  • Provide technical support to the Engineering Department on projects, and on building modifications that have environmental impacts and aspects.
  • Developing the departmental budget and making appropriate decisions which are timely and in the best interest of the Company
  • Ensuring the compliance standards are well maintained by the department (lSO, EMS, QMS,OHS,EnMS)
  • Ensure that all legal approvals/ compliances/ licenses are updated and maintained to ensure that the Business unit operates in compliance with all applicable local laws related to Safety, Health & Environment

  • Degree or Professional Qualification
  • 5+ years experience
  • Good in English
