Mechanical Engineer (NDT/ HND) Full-Time

Job Duties 

  • Ensure the safety of the personnel, plants and machineries while continuously improving the manufacturing process. 
  • Carry out the asset management and maintenance systems/tools (Maintenance planning and PM order systems etc.) and ensure the operations of plant machineries to achieve best outcome. 
  • Planning and executing annual maintenance program for all knitting and sleeve section related machineries including utilities, so that the maintenance cost is optimized whilst achieving zero unplanned downtime.  
  • Work closely with engineering stores and procurement team to manage the spare parts inventory.  Ensure to maintain the optimum stocks to prevent high inventory cost. 
  • Ensure that downtimes and wastages due to other machine failures are minimal and within the budget and the machine performs to the given specification to meet relevant quality parameters. 
  • Preparation of annual maintenance budget and managing the expenditure. 
  • Preparation of investment budgets and investment appraisals. 
  • Formulate evaluate and execute all minor and major projects. 
  • Prepare project proposals, justifications and capital expenditure approval requests for the plant capability enhancement projects. 
  • Compile and prepare all capital, repair and maintenance expenditure reports. 
  • Develop and maintain equipment manuals, equipment history repository, and maintenance task lists, checklist for each equipment considering the task frequency. 
  • Ensure all reports and statistical information are prepared accurately and submitted on a timely basis.  Ensure necessary documentation and records are maintained to meet legal regulatory and GMP needs.   
  • Identify the plant bottleneck areas and improve the performance through improvement projects. 
  • Conducting problem solving sessions and providing solutions through small group interactive activities teams such as Root cause analysis, Brainstorming sessions etc. 
  • Ensure that engineering manager and manufacturing manager are aware of problems, potential problems and developments which will impact on business.  Assist them to plan strategies to overcome them. 
  • Machine modification and automation in order to achieve the extra requirement. 
  • Continuous improvement on plant KPIs especially OEE, MTBF and MTTR. 
  • Lead the maintenance crew in the respective area towards achievement of business goals and support management in accomplishment of strategic business goals. 
  • Identify the development needs of the maintenance crew and make necessary arrangements to build a multi skill and talented team. 
  • Conduct the assessments and appraisals of subordinates, maintain significant incident logs and arrange training for personnel when required.  
  • Coordinate with sister factories in bench marking and getting technical support in implementation of projects/maintenance work. 
  • Coordinate with external parties, institutes and authorities in getting the approvals, permits or license for operations, projects or other relevant matters. 
  • Coordinate with internal / external parties in order to get the material, services in time for crucial projects/maintenance activities. 
  • Conduct relevant plant audits and support audits conducted by external parties in respective areas; do corrective action on findings. 
  • Responsible for supporting the manufacturing process and to establish parameters and maintain to ensure consistent quality to meet customer requirements. 
  • Propose amendments or alterations as necessary to SOPs, Work instructions. 
  • Implement approved employee relation practice, programs and procedures to ensure harmonious relationship to minimize the risk of third party intervention and / or industrial disputation. 
  • Take disciplinary actions against the subordinates as and when required, in consultation with HR department, in order to maintain the order. 
  • Ensure your subordinate staff members are aware, updated and understand of their duties and responsibilities and provided with the necessary means and support and direction to carry out their duties and responsibilities.  
  • Ensure that all company activities conducted either personally or by subordinates comply with all Sri Lanka legal requirements and to the highest level of company and ethical standards.
  • Any Other duties assigned by the management. 


Requirements 

  • Knowledge in Electrical and Mechanical schemes (BSc Degree in Engineering) 
  • Knowledge in Project Management 
  • Understanding of the manufacturing environment
